Financial Aid Process

Steps to ÐÓ°Éing for Financial Aid

Complete the . All students requesting financial aid must file a FAFSA. Follow the instructions to create a (Federal Student Aid ID), which will allow you to provide your legal signature when signing your FAFSA.

  1. Your application is submitted to the FAFSA Processing System (FPS).

  2. The FPS processes the application and COS receives an Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR). The Student Aid Index (SAI) is calculated using information provided on the FAFSA. This will determine available aid for college expenses based on your family's resources.

  3. FPS randomly selects students for verification of the FAFSA information. If selected, students will need to provide additional documentation. Students will receive a notification from Inceptia, a school third party Federal Verification processor, that will assist them in completing this process.

  4. Any other additional documentation needed from the student/parent is posted to the student's Financial Aid requirements located in the mySiskiyous portal.

  5. Once the student's financial aid file is complete. The financial aid office will review student's eligibility and award federal, state and institutional awards: Federal Pell grant, FSEOG, Federal Work Study, Federal Direct Loans, State grants, and Scholarships.

  6. Students are notified via email to access their award letter through their mySiskiyous account.

  7. Students need to select a to receive their funds using BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc.

  8. Financial aid disbursements follow the disbursement schedule.
